Wash Away Myths About Laundry Service
Over the years, we’ve heard negative opinions levied at customers who use our laundry service rather than wash themselves, so we’d like to affirm them, instead, by dispelling some common myths.
#1 These individuals are lazy
Even customers who drop-off their family laundry believe this—especially women. We often hear women berate themselves as a bad parent or cite some emergency that prevented them from performing the ritual of doing laundry to the expectations of family and society.
The reality, is, with an aging population and a generation of young adults struggling to achieve financial independence, the burdens, and responsibilities of middle-aged Americans, are increasing. Nearly half (47%) of adults in their 40s and 50s have a parent aged 65 or older and are either raising a young child or financially supporting a grown child (age 18 or older). And about one-in-seven middle-aged adults (15%) provide financial support to both an aging parent and a child. 1
Further, according to the Department of Labor statistics, men perform 20% of household chores while women perform almost 50%. And, since the percent of families led by a single mother has more than tripled (from 7% to 25%), the percent of chores for women can reach 100%. Electing to use a drop-off laundry service —even occasionally, can help modify that figure.
A month of laundry calculates to a six-hour investment that you could otherwise use to get more sleep, spend time with family; take a class, or start a new enterprise.
So, we say they’re "smart" because by outsourcing laundry duties they gain the advantage of time to things that are far more important to their life and wellbeing.
#2: Doing My Own is Cheaper
Not necessarily. That is because drop-off pricing includes products, wrapping/bags, and the human capital necessary to do the folding to our high standards. With the average service charge of $26, doing it yourself could be a losing proposition, especially if the customer passed up the opportunity to increase their income, learn a new skill, or complete a critical task. Nevertheless, if the customer wants to do his/her own, Spin Doctor® Laundromat- Hamilton, N.J. has 41 washers, and 36 dryers housed in a clean, pleasant environment to get you in and out quickly and painlessly. Come by and you’ll see why we're "The Cure for Dirty Clothes®."
